Predix, GE’s operating system for the Industrial Internet, was released to the general public in February. Then in April, at Hannover Messe in Germany, we announced our first production customer using the Predix-based Asset Performance Management application. This was followed by the first developer conference in GE’s history at Las Vegas. Now we’re hosting the first Predix Hackathon in India.
**THIS IS A PRIVATE HACKATHON AND ONLY OPEN TO THOSE WHO ARE INVITED. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER ON THIS PAGE.
Your application idea must encompass one of the following five categories.
Below are some ideas to get started.
1. IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things)
a. Get connected (various devices like sensors, equipment, data sources etc.)
b. Get insights (should be able to visualize the data collected from various devices and able to run meaningful analytics to get insights from the data)
c. Get optimized (further optimize the systems e.g. maintenance optimization or operations optimizations etc.)
2. Tools & Accelerators (Building frameworks)
a. Monitoring & diagnostics
b. Tools to optimize, scale and maintain services
c. Tools for Predix
d. Any other creative & easy to use tools
3. Industrial Automation
a. Controlling equipment or fleet controls for better optimization
b. Cloud to Edge communication
4. Smart City
a. Managing smart infrastructure (kiosks, transport system, roads, etc.)
b. Managing traffic
c. Optimized power, water and other important resources generation, distribution and saving.
d. Pollution control, cleanliness etc.
e. Any other cool idea which could make a city smarter.
5. Healthcare
a. Affordable & accessible healthcare (making healthcare more affordable & accessible for the people)
b. Assistance in providing medication, diagnosis, surgery etc.
c. Hospital, staff & patient management
Eligibility
THIS IS A PRIVATE HACKATHON AND ONLY OPEN TO THOSE WHO ARE INVITED.
One application may be submitted per team/submitter. Limit 5 people per team. This hackathon is open to:
- All GE employees in India.
- India based software partners. The partner will select only one team and register that team through Devpost.
Requirements
Build and submit apps on GE’s Predix platform. App submissions:
- Must be built on Predix, and use Predix Services AND
- Submitted apps should address problems related to any of the 5 categories as outlined above
- OPTIONALLY should use Raspberry Pi or Intel Edison Board
Prizes
Winning team
Two winning teams will take home gift vouchers worth INR 100,000/- each. Winners will also have an opportunity to present their ideas to Harel Kodesh, VP & Software CTO, GE Digital.

Quality of the Idea and App
Includes creativity and originality of the application idea, usability, design, and intuitiveness within the 5 categories as outlined in Rules. -
Potential Value or Benefits
Includes the degree to which the solution provides scale and value. -
Use of Predix Platform Services
Includes the extent to which Predix services were used AND/OR the extent to which live data was incorporated from a Predix machine-enabled device. -
Ease of Implementation
Includes the extent to which the value provided to the end user is realistically achievable with existing technologies within the near term; not vague or overly complex to user, or reliant on a technology that is not yet on the market. -
Pitch of App
Includes the clarity and description of the problem addressed, how the app solves the problem, what technology is used, what services are leveraged, what sensor and other data is used, and the connection the app makes to real-world industrial problems.
